At EXPO, our Managing Director John Harcourt joined an expert panel on “Rethinking Housing in Europe – Best Practices from Poland”, discussing how Build-to-Rent (BTR) and Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) are helping tackle Europe’s housing challenges.

Poland is emerging as a standout market with flexible regulations, room for innovation, and opportunities to set benchmarks in early-stage markets.

John shared Kajima’s experience with Student Depot, Poland’s largest PBSA platform:

  • 4,500+ beds across six cities
  • 95% occupancy, even during rapid expansion
  • On-time delivery of Poznań 2 (406 beds)
  • Growth pipeline of 1,500 more beds

With over 1.2 million students and only 1% housed in modern private dorms (Savills), Poland offers valuable lessons for housing strategies across Europe.
